One-way Remote Start

Most remote car starters can be divided into two primary categories – one-way and two-way. Many of the standard systems are typically of the one-way variety, which means the data from your transmitter is being sent to the vehicle in one direction. When a button is pressed on the remote, a signal is transmitted to the car, which will often acknowledge receipt of that signal by flashing the parking lights, generating an audible signal, or both. As long as you are within range, which may be many hundreds of feet, you can confirm that your vehicle has started.

Two-way Remote Start

In two-way systems, information is now being sent to and from the vehicle. When a command is dispatched, the two-way remote start system will send a signal back indicating execution of that command, which is generally displayed on an LCD or other type of visual interface on the remote. An added benefit to this equipment is that you do not need to see your vehicle to confirm that it has received your instructions. Perhaps you have entered a store, but cannot remember whether you locked your car; or you are on the way out of the office but the parking lot is not visible from your location. With a two-way start, you will be informed as to whether the task you initiated has been completed.

App-controlled Remote Start

Recently, a third category has become part of the remote starter market – one in which the hardware is controlled by a smartphone. Now, distance is no longer a consideration, as you could be miles away, or in a different state. Start your vehicle from a sunny vacation resort in Florida when the temperature is below zero in Minnesota, or rescue a relative who has locked their keys in the car while you are at work.

At Mobile Installation Services, we offer a full array of remote vehicle start options, and can help you determine which model is best for the functionality you require.
